Pastoral Council News

Garden Memorial Wall: Returning opportunity for the Memorial Wall in the Parish Garden. A continuing interest, and sense of responsibility for the planned memorial wall in the parish garden has prompted the Parish Council to take action. Red bricks with names printed on them will be used to face the curved cinder block wall in the garden, while paving bricks, with the same memorializing will be used to cover the gravel at the southwest corner of the garden. The names that were gathered at the time of the reconstruction from the earthquake are scheduled to be included. If there is someone you would like to have memorialized on the church grounds, there is still room on the wall and on the garden path. Bricks may be purchased for $100 at the Parish Office. These can be either pavement stones or wall facing. Also available pavement bricks (8X8) for $250 and (12X12) for $350.

Your input is key to the growth and well-being of our Parish. Drop your comments into the Suggestion Box in the Narthex or visit http://mhr.org/Suggestions.html. The Pastoral Council reviews these on a regular basis.

Come to our Garden

Parishioners are invited to come, enjoy the garden and possibly help with light garden work every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 am until noon. Contact Greg Matracia if you are interested in helping out.

From the Buildings and Grounds Group

Please note that the parking lot will be closed from July 27 to August 3 for resurfacing. During this time, access to the parking lot will be prohibited and no vehicles will be able to park there. The dumpster will still be accessible for use.

Email from a visitor

My daughter and I were visiting from southern California last weekend (pride weekend). I am a
cradle Catholic and belong to a wonderful church in Yorba Linda- St. Martin de Porres. I just wanted you to know what a wonderful experience we had in your church. Although we goofed up the time and came late to mass, we were made to feel welcome by the friendly greeter at the door who showed us where to enter and not feel disruptive. Three separate people came up to us and spoke to us, welcomed us, invited us to fellowship downstairs after mass. The beautiful feeling of inclusion and spiritual peace is palpable in your church. The music was incredible. Singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" in church is something I will never forget. My 18 year old daughter and I were moved to tears by the beauty of the body in Christ present in the parishioners at your church. We will always return to mass there when we visit. The people of San Francisco are blessed to have you. ! I pray for all Catholic churches to learn from the acceptance and God's love your church provides. Thank you. - Pat Williams
